Hi Bitterroot! I like "bleak". There's hills like this in eastern WA, Horse Heaven HIlls--how's that for a name?!--I love to look out over them, and walk as far as I'm allowed ;0). Gaging distance is so off, since I'm used to trees everywhere. But I love the open wideness, the lonesomeness, even the exposed feeling. Well, have a great day!!!!
I sincerely hope that you don't mind, but I'm using this picture as my Windows desktop at work. It captures perfectly the stark rural nature of the Bitterroot in winter. (I grew up in the Valley, so I know a little about that ;-)
