Mast General Store

Mast General Store, originally uploaded by Bitterroot.

Taken in Valle Crucis, North Carolina.
This is an ancient general store that is still going strong high in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. It's in a little town called Valle Crucis. What a wonderful place!!

that's so cool you have a comment, E, from someone at the general store. awesome connection! Hi, Mast Staffer!
I was going to say (before I was distracted by the previous commenter) ...that your top two photos remind me of artful assemblages in mixed media. Gets my imagination rummaging....

Mast Staffer, I did enjoy my visit; it was the best "retail" experience I perhaps have ever had. I wish this store, in the incarnation shown here, were closer to where I live.
M, glad you like this. That's how the whole store is, room after room of the olden days! (Today's merchandise, however: new wine in old bottles.)
Kasturi - so glad you are enjoying the photos here.

I enjoyed the photos and want to congratulate you an a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the store. I't a place I love and consider part of the heritage of the area and America, for that matter. Almost 27 years ago, my wife, children and I moved into the store, where we lived for 4 years, to return it to an active life. Thank you for visiting and do come again. The proprietor
