Why I love four seasons

Tracings of white, originally uploaded by Bitterroot.

Layers, originally uploaded by Bitterroot.

Just take a look at these two photos taken just weeks apart: same tree, same hillside, same spot on the road, two different worlds.

Comments:
Both really wonderful pictures.

you're right, e these are two wonderful photos, each very different. I love the way the edging, the dusting of snow on the tree branches defines the tree against the medium-toned background hillside. It really makes the tree stand out, whereas in the earlier photo, the tree is more part of the hillside texture and is separated from it's surroundings only by the color of it's dark form against the red and gold leaves on the hill.

I don't prefer either of these photos - they are both beautiful for very different reasons. Nice work! I do SO wish I had my camera when I look at your photos, E. :o)))

Thanks to both for your kind comments. The structure of the forest that emerges when the leaves fall has its own kind of beauty.

I wish you had your camera too, M! I miss your photos of advancing winter in Montana....
