Luscious, perfect round form
The days are getting shorter and the nights crisper. There's just the barest suggestion of fall in the air as the harvest bounty overflows bins and baskets in Wisconsin. This particular beauty is not quite ripe for the picking, but maybe tomorrow! There is something fundamentally reassuring about the sight of ripening tomatoes swelling amid their vines. The earth continues to provide, despite all of humankind's efforts to extract its treasures or pave it over!

edith, that is one of the most beautiful, perfect, reddish, delicous-looking tomatoes I have ever seen. I'mm jealous of your garden. The only red ones we have so far (last day of August) are some teeny cherry tomatoes, but they are great tasting! This is such a beautiful photo, too - wow.
Thank you Maureen...Wisconsin is producing bountifully as usual. I must give credit where credit is due, however: this is actually Elizabeth's garden!
Well, then pass along my compliments to Elizabeth for her delicious looking tomatoes. I haven't checked your blog lately - been preoccupied with Katrina and the devastation down there. We have friends who lost family members and so much else. I am worried and sad.
Yes, there is much to be sad and worried about right now. I'm so sorry to hear of your friends' devastating loss. It is hard to encompass the enormity of this tragedy.
