360 degree sunset
Every now and again there's a sunset that flings its color lavishly all over the sky, in every direction you turn. This particular view of the Bitterroot Mountains was one of those occasions. The bright reflection in the background is the Bitterroot River, casting back its own pink glow in response to the sky. A beautiful summer's eve in Montana...
not that we don't have awesome sunrises and sunsets in Montana ANYway!
I like the way you write, too. Nice description of the day.
Maureen
I know what you mean about the orange sun; it casts an ominous red light in the woods and fields and seems very unnatural. Once the smoke starts drifting in from all sides, there is a sense of foreboding hanging in the air. A literal and figurative pall. Missoula is surrounded by fires right now; they all started within a few days of each other.
I should probably have taken some photos of the plume of smoke billowing up behind my beloved Swans, but I didn't have the heart to do so.
Come, rain!
